Ukraine, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg will cooperate within the framework of a new diplomatic format titled “Ukraine–Benelux.” This was announced by Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs Andriy Sybiha, as reported by G.Business, citing the press office of the Ukrainian MFA. According to Sybiha, the first ministerial meeting in the “Ukraine–Benelux” format will take place in the near future.
“It is crucial that our diplomacy reflects the new role of our state in the world — a country respected for its strength and determination.
We do not wait for invitations. We create equal formats and initiatives.
We propose solutions and invite others to move forward with us,” Sybiha emphasized.
Ukraine’s expanding diplomatic network
Sybiha also noted that Ukraine has already established a series of multilateral formats in cooperation with other countries, including:
- Ukraine–Southeast Europe (Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Albania, Greece, Bulgaria, Romania)
- Ukraine–Nordic-Baltic Eight (Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Sweden)
- Ukraine–Romania–Moldova
- Lublin Triangle (Ukraine, Poland, Lithuania)
- Weimar+ (France, Germany, Poland, Ukraine)
New aid from the Netherlands
Just last week, Dutch Foreign Minister Kaspar Veldkamp announced that the Netherlands would allocate €300 million for Ukraine’s reconstruction. The funds are expected to be used primarily for the restoration of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.
