At the IDEF 2025 international defense industry fair in Istanbul, Turkey presented its first hypersonic missile, the Tayfun Block-4, which reportedly surpasses the Russian "Kinzhal" in several technical parameters. This was reported by G.Business, citing Anadolu.

The Tayfun Block-4 is the hypersonic version of Turkey’s domestically developed Tayfun ballistic missile, known as the country’s longest-range missile system. The new model weighs over 7 tons, measures approximately 10 meters in length, and has a diameter of 938 mm.

According to the manufacturer Roketsan, the missile can reach speeds of over 6,000 km/h, with a precision strike capability – its circular error probable is less than 5 meters. Its range is up to 3,000 kilometers, enabling it to neutralize air defense systems, command centers, military hangars, and critical strategic targets.

Roketsan also introduced several other new systems at IDEF, including:

  • Atmaca (anti-ship missile)
  • Gökbora (new air-to-air missile)
  • 300 Er (air-launched ballistic missile)

Erdogan pushes missile production

Amid rising tensions between Israel and Iran, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan recently ordered the acceleration of medium- and long-range missile production.

Erdoğan has long promoted Turkey's path toward an independent defense industry capable of producing combat aircraft, tanks, drones, frigates, and now hypersonic missiles — both for domestic use and export markets.
