OnlyFans is at the center of a new rule change for the prestigious beauty pageant Miss Italia. After a six-year hiatus, the event will return to the spotlight of Italian public life in 2025 – but in a new form and with a clear restriction for contestants. This was reported by G.Business, citing Corriere.it.
In the Rai3 program Agorà Estate, organizer and long-time patron Patrizia Mirigliani announced that Article 8 of the competition rules has been tightened. From now on, contestants may not have profiles on platforms such as OnlyFans or similar websites that allow or commonly host the upload and sharing of so-called “adult content” or pornographic/explicit material, whether free or paid. The aim of this rule is to protect the public image and values of the competition.
Return to Rai – but digital
After its last broadcast on public television six years ago, Miss Italia is now making a comeback on Rai. Unlike in the past, however, the event will not be a traditional live TV show but will be streamed exclusively on digital platforms – a strategic move to reach a younger, digitally-oriented audience.
The national semi-finals will take place from September 2 to 5 at the Centro Vacanze De Angelis in Numana (Marche region). The grand final will be held on September 15 at the Palazzo dello Sport in Porto San Giorgio (Province of Fermo), where the new Miss Italia 2025 will be crowned.
What is OnlyFans and how does it work?
OnlyFans is an online platform founded in the UK in 2016 that operates on a subscription model. Content creators – including influencers, models, artists, fitness trainers, or private individuals – can upload exclusive content and sell it directly to paying subscribers. The monthly subscription price is set by the creator and typically ranges from $4.99 to $50. In addition to regular subscriptions, pay-per-view content, tips, and paid private chat messages are also possible. The platform keeps 20% of the revenue, with 80% going to the creator.
Officially, OnlyFans allows a wide range of content – from fitness and cooking classes to music performances and personal vlogs. However, in public perception, the platform is strongly associated with erotic and pornographic material. Many creators use it to distribute so-called “adult content”, including suggestive photos, erotic videos, and live streams.
Access is restricted to adults aged 18 and over and requires identity verification. For companies, contests, or brands, an association with OnlyFans can be problematic due to concerns over youth protection, brand image, and advertising compatibility. For precisely these reasons, Patrizia Mirigliani decided to exclude contestants with such accounts from the competition.
