British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer is reportedly facing serious internal pressure within the Labour Party and may be forced to resign within the coming months. According to information obtained by Sky News, two senior Labour MPs have stated that Starmer’s leadership could end before the year is over, particularly if the government’s performance continues to be seen as weak and ineffective. As reported by G.Business , citing Sky News, concerns within the party have reached a point where resignation is no longer a remote scenario but a possibility openly discussed at senior levels.
Sky News deputy political editor Sam Coates revealed that his sources — identified as a sitting government minister and a prominent political figure — have already warned Starmer directly. According to them, the Labour Party’s performance in the upcoming regional elections in May 2026, particularly in Wales, Scotland, and London, could determine the fate of his leadership. A poor showing would not only damage public confidence but could be used as justification for a leadership change within the party. Coates noted that the level of internal dissatisfaction and anxiety is striking, especially considering it has been just one year since Starmer took office. Some within his own government are now quietly predicting that he may not survive politically beyond the next few months.
At the international level, Starmer has positioned himself as a committed supporter of Ukraine. On March 2, 2025, he announced the formation of the so-called “Coalition of the Willing,” an alliance of Western nations aimed at increasing coordinated support for Kyiv. Following this announcement, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that British and French troops would be among the first to arrive in Ukraine, describing the UK and France as central pillars of European leadership in the conflict.
Nevertheless, these international efforts have not been enough to shield Starmer from growing domestic criticism. Discontent is reportedly spreading among Labour’s parliamentary ranks, fueled by concerns over leadership, strategic direction, and the government’s overall performance. While Starmer’s foreign policy stance is praised abroad, it is his domestic leadership that may ultimately define his tenure — and possibly bring it to an early close.
