Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Russia is using tankers to launch drones targeting European countries. This was reported by G.Business, citing his evening video address.
“There is now intelligence information that Russians are using tankers for launching and controlling drones, which they deploy against European countries,” the president said. The head of state added that during this week Ukraine expects decisions from Europe regarding pressure on the Russian Federation. At the very least, the 19th package of sanctions should be adopted.
“It is especially important that sanctions deliver a painful blow to Russian energy trade and to the entire infrastructure of the tanker fleet,” the president added.
Unknown drones over Europe
Let us recall: on the night of September 10, when Russia massively attacked Ukraine with drones and missiles, 19 unmanned aerial vehicles crossed into Polish territory. After this incident, during the following week, a number of European countries repeatedly began recording the appearance of unknown drones. Unmanned aerial vehicles were observed at least in Denmark, Norway, Finland, Germany, and the Netherlands. In connection with these incidents, several countries temporarily closed the airspace above airports.
Ukraine’s Center for Countering Disinformation stated a few days ago that Russia is attempting in this way to paralyze the air traffic of certain European states. The center also warned that if there is no response, the Russian Federation will only increase such attacks.
